Electrolyte restores salt balance after sweat losses. A horse can lose 10-15 litres of fluid during one hour of training. If only water is replenished, the salt balance can only be restored within four days. A supplement of electrolytes contributes to a faster recovery and a better performance. VIMITAL Electrolyte restores the salt balance and is primarily based on sodium chloride, but also other components of sodium that the horse needs in case of fluid loss. A deficit of sodium can also impair the natural feeling of thirst which makes it even more difficult to compensate the fluid balance. To improve palatability, VIMITAL Electrolyte has been enriched with glucose. An electrolyte deficit can lead to dehydration, poor performance, poor oxygen transport and muscle cramps.
